The Dynasty Expands: Introducing Damascus Dynasty & Silver Dynasty

Every knife brand has one series that made it. Ours is the Dynasty.

The Dynasty Series is the best-selling collection we've ever forged — the knives that defined The Cooking Guild for hundreds of thousands of home cooks. And for the first time since it launched, the Dynasty is expanding: new steel, new handles, and two completely new expressions of the series you already know.

Meet the Damascus Dynasty and the Silver Dynasty.

The Dynasty That Started It All

The original Dynasty Series was built on one idea: forge kitchen knives using the same traditional Japanese blade-making techniques once reserved for samurai swords. Japanese San Mai construction — a hardened steel core encased in protective stainless steel — gave those blades their signature combination of razor sharpness and everyday durability. The Serbian Cleaver, the Santoku, the 8" Chef: these became the knives our community reaches for every single day.

The new Dynasty lines keep that philosophy and push the steel further.

What's New: 67 Layers of Damascus Steel

Both new lines are forged from 67-layer Damascus steel wrapped around a cobalt-enriched 10Cr15CoMoV core, hardened to 60±2 HRC.

Here's what that actually means at the cutting board. Where San Mai sandwiches a hard core between two outer layers, Damascus forging folds and layers steel dozens of times over. The smith stacks alternating steels, heats them in the forge, and hammers them into a single billet — then folds, reheats, and hammers again. Each fold doubles the layers. By the time the billet reaches 67 layers, the steel carries the strength of every fold, and grinding the blade reveals the flowing, water-like pattern that makes every Damascus blade one of a kind.

At the center of all those layers sits the 10Cr15CoMoV core — a cobalt steel in the same class as Japanese VG10, prized by knife makers because cobalt lets the steel be hardened further without turning brittle. That's how these blades reach 60±2 HRC: hard enough to take a scary-sharp edge and hold it through months of daily prep work.

Two Finishes. One Dynasty.

Damascus Dynasty — Black Forged & Walnut

The Damascus Dynasty is the darker, harder-edged expression of the series. Each blade wears a hand-hammered black forged finish over the raw Damascus pattern — and those hammer marks aren't decoration. The dimples break the suction between blade and food, so slices release cleanly instead of clinging to the steel. Every knife is finished with a full tang black walnut handle and steel bolster, balanced for hours at the board.

Silver Dynasty — Mirror Polish & Olive Wood Burl

The Silver Dynasty is the same steel in its brightest form. The 67 layers are polished until the Damascus pattern ripples like light on water, then paired with a full tang olive wood burl handle. Olive burl is nature's fingerprint — no two blocks share the same golden grain, which means no two Silver Dynasty knives on earth look exactly alike.

The New Shapes

Both lines launch with five shapes — including three the Dynasty Series has never offered before.

8" Chef Knife

The all-rounder that runs the kitchen, from breaking down proteins to fine slicing. Shop it in Damascus Dynasty or Silver Dynasty.

8" Bread Knife

A serrated Damascus edge that shears through crusty sourdough, ripe tomatoes, and layered cakes in a single draw — no sawing, no crushing. The first serrated blade in Dynasty history. Shop it in Damascus Dynasty or Silver Dynasty.

7" Nakiri

Japan's vegetable specialist. The tall, squared blade meets the board flat along its full length for clean push cuts — no accordion onions, no half-connected carrots. Shop it in Damascus Dynasty or Silver Dynasty.

5" Steak Knives

Forged performance at the dinner table, with blades ground slim so cuts stay clean and the juices stay in the meat. Available in sets of 4, 6, or 8. Shop them in Damascus Dynasty or Silver Dynasty.

Damascus Dynasty 5 inch Steak Knife

4" Paring Knife

The smallest blade in the Dynasty for the most delicate work — peeling in hand, hulling strawberries, trimming silver skin with surgical precision. Shop it in Damascus Dynasty or Silver Dynasty.

The Sets

Alongside the individual blades and the steak knife sets, each line launches with two curated sets, following the same ranks the Dynasty Series has always used:

The Samurai Set

The essential pair. The 8" Chef and 4" Paring Knife: the two knives that do 90% of the work in any kitchen, from the big cuts to the fine detail. Available in Damascus Dynasty and Silver Dynasty.

The Emperor Set

Full command of the kitchen. All four kitchen blades — the 8" Chef, 8" Bread, 7" Nakiri, and 4" Paring — matched in steel and handle. Available in Damascus Dynasty and Silver Dynasty.

The Same Guild Promise

New steel, same standard. Every Damascus Dynasty and Silver Dynasty knife is covered by our 99-Day Home Trial — cook with it in your own kitchen, and if it isn't the best knife you've ever held, send it back. And like every blade we make, they're protected by our Free Lifetime Guarantee.

The series that defined the Guild is about to get bigger.
